Bathroom and Kitchen Design in Chicago Condominiums
The latest Chicago condominiums are on the cutting edge of fashion, so they are the perfect places to look for information about the “next big things” in interior design. Most of the Chicago new condos on the market have to be designed with discerning buyers in mind, because the flood of new condos has made the market very competitive. And as with all types of housing, the bathroom and the kitchen are the most important rooms in Chicago condos as far as design and convenience go. These are the fist places buyers look when they decide if they like a condo or not.
When people look at the bathrooms in Chicago condominiums, the bathtub is probably the first thing they take notice of. While yesterday’s luxury condos typically had whirlpool bathtubs, the Chicago new condos of today are more likely to be equipped with soaking tubs. This is because whirlpool bathtubs were not necessarily ergonomically correct, and they were often too noisy to be relaxing. Many people prefer to have soaking tubs in their Chicago condos because they are deep, comfortable and quiet places to relax and forget the troubles of life.
Some people are taking it a step further and having infinity tubs installed in their Chicago condos. While these don’t necessarily come standard in all the Chicago new condos, they might just be the wave of the future. Infinity tubs come with an overflow that lets the water drain slowly over the tub edge into a catch basin, where it is reheated, effervesced and re-circulated into the tub. Some people are even having fixtures installed in the bathtubs of their Chicago condominiums that alter the color of built-in LED lights in the tub to fit the bather’s mood.
Kitchens and bathrooms, which are both prominent rooms in Chicago new condos, have one thing in common. They both need countertops, and people are willing to spend a pretty penny to have the latest countertop surfaces in their Chicago condos, because of the beauty and resale value it adds to the home. While solid surfacing was popular in yesterday’s Chicago condominiums, granite is the surface of choice at the moment, and designers seem to think it will be popular for years to come.
Granite countertops can be found in all of the premiere Chicago new condos, often in both the kitchens and bathrooms. It used to be common to see Corian in Chicago condominiums, but granite has really superseded that and other materials. Many people choose to have granite installed in their older Chicago condos when they want to modernize the units, because it provides the most aesthetic appeal for the money. Granite might have some competition, though. Metal counters such as copper and zinc are appearing much more frequently in Chicago new condos and homes, but they shouldn’t completely replace granite anytime soon.
While design trends might change, one thing is for sure – the bathroom and the kitchen will always be the most important rooms in the house.
